Atelier Nord is an architecture & interiors studio working between Oslo and Copenhagen. We build calm — in timber, light and stone.
Every project begins with what is already there: the slope of the site, the low winter sun, the neighbour's apple tree. We draw around these givens rather than over them.
The result is buildings that feel inevitable — as if the town had simply been waiting for them. Our work has been recognised by the Nordic Design Prize and exhibited at the Venice Biennale of Architecture.
We spend a season on site before drawing a line. Sun studies, soil, neighbours, weather diaries.
Plans are drawn by hand first, at 1:100, in pencil. Software joins later — it is a tool, not an author.
1:20 models in card and basswood. Daylight is rehearsed under an artificial sky before we commit.
We stay on the scaffolding until the last handle is hung. Details are decided in the room, at full scale.
